Life and Science
Is Science important? The answer lies right in front of our eyes. Think about a world without technology. No computers, no cars. No vaccines or cures for diseases. Life would be joyless and extremely hard. It was not long ago that this was the case. How ever, now with science on our side it's a whole new story.

Solar system’s twin found

hst_ngc6050.jpg Astronomers have found a planetary system similar to ours – a Jupiter-like world circling a Sun-like star in roughly the same orbit that Jupiter follows our Sun. Of the 100 or so other planetary systems known, this one more closely resembles our than any other. Reporting this, the BBC science editor Dr. David Whitehouse says that researchers speculate that this system may contain other worlds, such as smaller rocky planets like Earth, either in orbit around the star or around the Jupiter-like world itself. The planet’s parent star, called HD 70642, is too faint to be seen with the unaided eye, but is easily visible in the southern sky using binoculars. At just 95 light-years away (a light year is equal to 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers) the gas giant planet, bathed in the light of a yellow-dwarf star is on our galactic doorstep.

The Digital World Providing Memory Activities

We all know that the older we get, the more difficult it becomes to remember things. This is because the brain is a muscle. The more you use it, the more it works. The more you ignore it, the less likely it will be able to remember new information or recall old information. In order to keep your brain in tip-top shape, it is a good idea to continue to use it by playing memory activities. Thanks to the digital age we’re in, there are many different types of memory activities that you can now play on a computer or gaming system.
Computer Games

There have always been computer games that can help you use your memory, but now they are more advanced than ever. Solitaire and other computer card games are a great way to keep your brain active and use your memory skills. Other internet games, however, such as Bejeweled, can also help to keep your brain stay in shape and can be played by anyone, from children to adults. You can also go online to indulge in a game of chess or checkers against someone who lives a world away from you, allowing you to keep your mental activity strong while enjoying a game against someone else.

Sleuthing Software Can Reassemble Deleted Photos

IT’S easy enough to accidentally delete cherished digital photographs. One wrong click of a button can wipe them out.Retrieving those images can be tricky, particularly when the files have been fragmented and bits of them are scattered throughout the hard drive or camera card.

Now, new software is smart enough to find and reassemble fragmented digital photographs, even when the directions for locating them have been deleted. The feat is similar to assembling a million pieces of a jigsaw puzzle with no guiding box-top image.

One day, this software may be useful not only in its consumer applications, restoring snapshots that have accidentally been erased, but also in recovering deliberately deleted images that might provide evidence in cases of corporate spying or child pornography.

Protecting your Cat on Halloween

Halloween can be a scary time for cats. People walking around in costumes, knocking on doors, and wearing silly masks can scare even the bravest of pets. Unfortunately, Halloween can also be a dangerous time for cats. Items in your home can pose hazards to your pet, while mischievous trick-or-treaters can cause harm. Keep an eye on your feline during this time of year, to make sure she’s as safe as she can be.
There are items that you may set out in your home during Halloween that you don’t use at other times of the year. Candles are one specific item that show up more frequently during this season. Candles are easy to keep out of a dog’s reach, but cats can get to them no matter where they are. Even more dangerous, candles that smell like food are even more inviting to the curious kitty. It is not necessary to put up all your candles, but you do have to be extra careful.

8 Phases of the Moon

The issue of lunar origin has been a subject of scientific speculations since the times of Galileo. The origin of the Moon is unknown, although there are a number of scientific hypothesis trying to describe where the Moon came from. The Moon is as old as the Earth - 4.6 billion years (this fact was stated by the scientists as they measured the age of lunar rocks).

A Bird Made of Sulphur

211714-36.jpg The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is a quite big parrot and has a beautiful white color that has the most gorgeous yellow crest that stands up on the top of their head, it has a black or dark gray beak; there is really no difference between the male and the female except for the fact that the female has a lighter colored eye then the male. When it comes to making noise, they are both winners! The call that they love the most is a very loud screech. The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is not to be confused with the Corella that can be found in Australia, although there are some similarities: the Corella is smaller and it does not have the crest on the top of his head like the Cockatoo.
This is a bird that is popular all around the world, they can easily learn tricks and are highly intelligent; they have a very good mimicking ability, some owners have reported that they can talk but this is no guarantee that your bird will do any talking, in general they are noisy birds that like to make noise and screech…please consider this if you are living in an apartment. Do not bother trying to train your parrot to be quiet because this is highly impossible with all parrots in general, parrots are loud and if you don’t like loud, then get something else.
